I draw inspiration from the Robert Frost poem Asking for Roses because it calls the reader to identify an objective and boldly take the steps required to attain it. I enjoy the challenge of pinpointing a goal, determining the steps to achieve it, working to implement the steps and finally, the satisfaction that results from accomplishing it.
Ask for Roses is an outward expression of my inner musings on life, events in Washington DC, fun excursions with friends, travel adventures, interesting recipes and projects that range from furniture to crafts. There's a little bit of everything--hopefully the variety will make you a regular visitor.
I am originally from the great state of Mississippi, but I have called DC home since 2008. I met my husband, Kern, also a fellow Mississippian, while working on Capitol Hill. I am privileged to team with the wonderful ladies of Alexandria Lifestyle in their Home + Garden section on many of my Chalk Paint projects. A few facts about me: my favorite meal is brunch, I clean to relieve stress, I’m a planner and I’m at my happiest curled up in my gray chair with a good book and a cup of coffee.
As you read Ask for Roses, it is my hope that you will gain perspective on a topic that strengthens you as a person, motivates you to take action and makes a lasting impression on the way you live your life.
